Merry Christmas from all of us at Five Star Vacation Rentals. It’s been a year of firsts, and we’ve all faced new challenges, but we’re ending it grateful for all our blessings and eager for the new year.
This past year we’ve been honored to host amazing life events for our guests. We’ve seen weddings, honeymoons, anniversaries, and thousands of happy people just eager to find some pampering above and beyond for a short while. We’re excited to see what new adventures we can be a part of in the coming year, and we want to extend our thanks to our guests who made it all possible. Without you, there would be no Five Star Vacation Rentals.
So we hope you’ll join us in recognizing lots of things could have been better this year, but there were still lots of things that were great blessings. And we trust that the year ahead will have it’s own new challenges and blessings and with each other, we’ll not only make it through, we’ll make through with gratitude.

Plan Your January Big Bear Getaway

January is one of the best months to visit, because there’s usually a good snow pack for the skiers, and Big Bear Village is humming with the shops and restaurants open for great food and fun shopping.
The Alpine Slide is open year round and has enough activities to fill several visits. Their Mineshaft Coaster is a thrilling one mile coaster ride downhill with enough twists and turns to keep you giggling and shrieking the entire ride. The new Soaring Eagle takes riders up backwards 100 feet vertical and 500 feet long to the launch tower before you are catapulted forward at speeds up to 28 mph back to the base. Their snow play hill is perhaps the best inner tube snow run in all of Big Bear, and they’ve made trips up the hill amazingly easy with their covered magic carpet lift that glides you up the hill protected from the elements by a plexiglass enclosure. And for general all around fun, you can enjoy their go carts and mini golf. It’s one of our favorite Big Bear destinations, and one we always recommend to all our guests.
Gold Rush Mining Adventures is open year round and offers great fun for the entire family. You can pan for gold, shop for geodes and gemstones and enjoy their mining decor. It’s a great time of discovery and excitement for kids as they dig for rough stones, polished rocks, fossils, and even some old shark’s teeth. Years from now, your kids will still pull out the bottle of their treasures and remember the fun they had that day at Gold Rush Mining Adventures. They’re located at 40016 Big Bear Blvd.
And of course, there’s the skiing. Many of our guests return every year for their pilgrimage to the slopes. And this year is already shaping up to be a great snow year with lots of pack and the hope of a very snowy season ahead. Break Out the Skis. It's Time!

Our regular guests will need no reminder, but we’ll post this anyway. We’ve got snow in Big Bear, and you’re going to want to get your reservations placed. Yes, we’re pleased to announce it’s time to break out the skis.
We love winter in Big Bear and our skiers this year have even more incentive to hit the slopes. This has been a year many of us are eager to leave behind, and we’re pretty sure a few runs down the slopes will help. We’re already seeing our winter bookings coming in, so we recommend you get your reservations in early to make sure you get that much needed time on the slopes. Here are a couple of guest favorites:
Cabin 9 is just 200 yards from the Snow Summit resort, and you’ll love the chance to walk to the slopes rather than trying to find a parking space. Rolling out of bed, grabbing some coffee, a quick breakfast and hitting slopes without even looking for your car keys is a pretty cool way to start any day. And that’s exactly what you’ll get with Cabin 9. It’s on a quiet cul-de-sac and it’s a perfect spot to relax after a long day on the slopes. The big jacuzzi tub in the master bathroom is perfect to soothe any sore muscles, and you’ll all love gathering around the fireplace to wind down with stories from the day.
Cabin 29 is also close to Snow Summit. And with its 9 bedrooms and 9.5 baths there is room for 16 guests. Each of the 9 bedrooms has its own bathroom, so there’s plenty of privacy for large families. And the kids will love the freedom of having their own private suites with a bathroom. The two master bedrooms have Jacuzzi tubs, so mom and dad can have some real luxury of their own at the end of the day. The slopes at Snow Summit are close by, so this is a great choice for a family ski getaway. The restaurants and shops of The Village are also just a few minutes away making this one a perfect choice for your Big Bear getaway.
