We started our company with a couple simple ideas: Vacations are meant to be fun, and enjoying the luxurious surroundings found in golf estates, high end cabins, and condos on the beach is something that makes them even more fun. High end hotels can be a lot of fun with luxury surroundings, and we’ve had our share or those vacations. But even the best hotels have things that we can’t control like common hallways, boisterous guests, and seldom enough room to really stretch out. And we really like to stretch out.
There are hotel rooms with some extra room, but if you’ve priced those, you’ll quickly see they can be amazingly expensive. And with the extra cost, you still end up sharing hallways, having inconvenient or expensive parking, and often still needing to seek meals elsewhere. We’re undoubtedly biased about this, but renting a luxury vacation rental offers an amazing value. For the price of a nice hotel room, you can plan a getaway in a property with a level of luxury few of us enjoy.
And that’s really the point.
Most families don’t get a lot of vacations. Vacations are special, and we often spend months planning and researching to make them the best they can be. Can You Imagine Your Family Relaxing In One of These?

At Five Star Vacation Rentals, we’ve got a lot of great properties to choose from in some of the most desirable locations. Big Bear is our most popular destination. This time of year it’s a skiers paradise with Bear Mountain and Snow Summit, two of the best skiing resorts in the western United States.
But Big Bear has always been a popular destination in every season. Big Bear Lake is well stocked with bass, trout and catfish. Winter fishing is amazing if you dress warm enough. And in every season, many guests have the delightful experience of enjoying the freshest of fish dinners after a relaxing day of fishing on the lake. Opportunities for this kind of activity are very limited in most of our lives and can become wonderful family bonding memories that last a lifetime.
For the skiers, we have several properties adjacent to the slopes. There are few more delightful experiences for the avid skier than to roll out of bed, grab a quick breakfast, and walk a few minutes to the slopes. Our Cabin 9 is a great choice for skiers. With 4 bedrooms and 2.5 baths, there’s roof for 11 guests and you’ll be a 200 yard walk from the slopes. A day on slopes followed by an evening in luxury is a pretty good experience.
Our Cabin 1 is also a quick walk to the slopes. It has room for 13 guests in its 4 bedrooms and 3 baths. Just roll out of bed, smile at your very pleasing surroundings, grab a quick cup of coffee, and hit the slopes. Maybe breakfast, maybe not, maybe just a quick cup of yogurt. For many of us it’s not a tough call when you can be on the slopes early without worrying about parking. And after the slopes, your can look forward to the very comfortable surroundings found at your Five Star Vacation Rental. Big Bear Village is a short drive away if you want to grab a good meal or do some shopping.

A Week in La Quinta

Why not just plan a week away in La Quinta? If you love to golf, there are few places on the planet with more options. And a week away in one of our luxury properties in La Quinta will make the experience amazing. Most of our properties have private pools, fairway views, and luxury beyond what most of us ever experience. Here are a couple of our favorite choices:
Our PGA107 is a 4600 square foot lakefront estate on the Greg Norman Course. The attached casita is its own little romantic getaway that has a fireplace in the private second floor bedroom and its own elevated deck overlooking the lake on the adjacent course. Few things are more relaxing than starting the day with some fresh coffee watching the early golfers play through beyond and planning a full day joining them. Or plan a day of nothing more than relaxing in the warm desert breezes while you lazily swim in the salt water pool. Of course you can stop whenever you want to relax in the spa as you listen to the splashing waterfall feature. Are you feeling the relaxation?
PGA111 has room for 10 guests in its 4 bedrooms and 3.5 baths. If you’re in the mood for 16 foot ceilings, a private pool, a spa with cascading water features, big screen TVs, a chef’s kitchen with Wolf appliances, you’re in for a treat. With over a dozen golf courses within driving distance, the golfers will find the choices amazing. The built-in barbecue will be a delight for grilling up steaks by the pool. It’s a great time: A morning on the course, an afternoon relaxing by the pool, and an evening of fine cuisine prepared by the chef in your group. We’re sure you get the picture. March Things To Do In Big Bear

Skiing is is great right now in Big Bear, and that’s reason enough for most our guests to plan a Big Bear getaway. There’s a huge pack and we’ve been getting lots of groomed and actual snow. We have lots of great cabins near the slopes, and you can see our our Big Bear cabins and book online at this link.
But off the slopes, Big Bear is reopening and there are lots of great activities to keep you and family enjoying your time on the mountain. One of our favorites is the Big Bear Zoo. Many of our return guests make the trek to the zoo several times a year. The zoo recently reopened with some Covid restrictions, but families are welcome, and the animals never disappoint. Big Bear Snow Play continues to expand their fun offering. In addition to downhill inner tube slide, they’ve got their Magic Carpet to whisk you back up to the top of the slope for another run. And the Alpine Slide at Magic Mountain has some great attractions as well. Enjoy the Mineshaft Coaster, Southern California’s only downhill mountain coaster. The Soaring Eagle is their great new attraction that will literally have you hanging on as you’re catapulted through the air. You can also enjoy go carts and a fun game of mini golf.
