It’s hard to believe that summer is just around the corner. Oh sure, the kids are getting restless, and we’re starting feel that annual push toward the family vacation. Biking is Big in June
Biking takes off in June with lots of planned events throughout the month. The Big Bear Cycling Association offers rides from a Monday morning java run through road training, and community fun rides. Many rides cater to all skill levels, and it’s one of the best ways to enjoy Big Bear. The June days are typically mild, and it’s sheer delight to be free of the confines of a car as you pedal your way around the beautiful surroundings Big Bear offers. Have Some Fun Fishing
Big Bear Lake is a great fishing destination and June has some fishing events planned you’re definitely going to want to attend.
June 9th and 10th will see the arrival of the annual Fishin’ for $50K Trout Derby. This combines two of our favorite pursuits: Fishing and Cash! Big Bear Lake will be stocked with 5 tagged fish that will bring $10,000 or more to the lucky anglers who land them. It’s a great time to load up the kids and go fishing for funds. The entry fee is $30 for kids and $80 for 16 and over. The fee covers fishing for both days of the derby. You can register online at this link.
Stick around the following weekend June 16th and 17th, and you can participate in the annual Carp Roundup. This event is for anglers and bow fishers. There are thousands of dollars in prizes with top teams vying for team prizes of $1000. It’s a fun event. You’ll need to register and pay your fee in advance. Summer Vacation Made Easy

We can tell it’s getting closer to summer, because the kids are starting the yearly ritual of dreading finals while delighting in the pending end of the school year. There are new arrivals weekly at the Home Depot nursery, and our garden is looking a bit greener as a result. These seasonal signs are the annual reminder that a great summer vacation takes some planning. Big Bear’s nightlife also keeps our guests entertained. Wyatt’s Grill and Saloon at the Big Bear Convention Center boasts Big Bear’s biggest dance floor, and every Wednesday night hosts a good old fashioned line dance to make good use of it. They even offer free lessons, so dancers of all skill levels can have some fun without too much worry about stepping on too many toes.
The Cave in Big Bear offers great live music with some big name performers and some what will soon be. If your idea of a fun evening is listening to live music, The Cave in Big Bear is a great destination. Nearby, The Village offers a wonderfully eclectic blend of small shops and restaurants. Things to do in Big Bear in May

As you may expect, we’re convinced that anytime is a great time to visit Big Bear. But there are a lot of great things to do in Big Bear in May that will make your visit even better. Here are just a few:
Enjoy Some Song and Dance
There’s no need to think you’re alone when you’re enjoying the music of 80’s pop queen Tiffany. She sold 15 million albums and set a record as the youngest female artist to top the Billboard charts with her debut album. She’ll be appearing at The Cave on May 11th, and it’s a great opportunity to enjoy some of your favorite tunes. She puts on a great show. The Cave offers an intimate experience, so you can enjoy a great evening with this iconic pop star. You can purchase your tickets in advance at this link.
The Cave has a full slate of great performances set for May. Lynyrd Skynyrd fans will enjoy the tribute band Simple Man on May 5th. Dick Dale invented surf music in the 1950’s and came to known as “King of the Surf Guitar.” He’ll be at The Cave on May 12th. All month long you can kick up your heels with some great music and line dancing at Wyatt’s at The Big Bear Convention Center. Every Wednesday Wyatt’s rolls out Big Bear’s biggest dance floor for some good old fashion, heel kickin’ fun. They open the doors at 4pm, and offer lessons for every skill level. So bring your two left feet, your complete lack of rhythm, and a willingness to stumble around with a fun crowd. Head back to Wyatt’s on Friday and Saturday nights for live music. Spring is a great time around here. While we’re always a bit sad to put away our snow gear, spring brings with it a host of new opportunities and adventures to embark upon. And for those of us who love the outdoors, it’s a perfect time to pack our bags and take a hike.

Are you getting a tax refund this year? We’ve got a great idea how to use it. What better way to celebrate your hard work than taking a well-deserved getaway with your friends or family? And what better place than in a Five Star Vacation Rental luxury cabin in Big Bear?
March and April are perfect months for heading to Big Bear. The ski season is winding down, but there’s still plenty of great things to fill your time. Or you can turn off your cell phone, grab a couple of books you’ve been neglecting for a while, and enjoy some of the most relaxing quiet time you’re likely to find. Just prop yourself up where you can soak in the warmth of the fireplace, stop occasionally for a good meal, lather, rinse, repeat. It’s a recipe for recharging your batteries and getting a fresh perspective on life.
If you want to supplement your stay with some great fun, we recommend you head over to the Big Bear Convention Center for some good old fashioned line dancing. Wyatt’s Grill and Saloon at the Convention Center offers a full slate of line dancing opportunities. Wednesdays you’ll enjoy live music with free line dancing classes, and then on Fridays and Saturdays you can put into practice your new steps with their line dance extravaganzas. If you want to make part of your relaxation spending some time in the kitchen, you’re going to love spending some time at the Tuesday Farmer’s Market at the Convention Center. There’s nothing quite as satisfying as creating a culinary masterpiece for your family knowing the ingredients were purchased fresh and local. The market is open from 8:00am to 1:30pm each Tuesday starting on April 3rd.

Enjoy March in Big Bear

Are you ready to take the plunge and enjoy March in Big Bear? We’re talking about an actual plunge. Big Bear’s annual Polar Plunge is scheduled for March 3rd, and it’s a great time for you to demonstrate your bravery for all to see. Yes, you can have some fun, freeze your, um, fajitas, and support Inland Empire Special Olympics at the same time. For those of you sane enough to actually refuse to enter the frigid waters of Big Bear Lake, there’s plenty of fun stuff and ways to support the cause without ever entering the water. Count us in as part of the latter. The Plunge takes place at Veteran’s Park, 40870 Big Bear Blvd. Registration starts at 10am.
If you want to avoid the crowds on the morning of the Polar Plunge, The Cave is also hosting a pre-registration party the night before on March 2nd. It will feature live music and a meet-and-greet with local Special Olympics athletes. The Cave is located at 40789 Village Drive, and the fun starts at 6pm.
If you’re sad that the Winter Olympics are ending, there’s still some great half pipe action to enjoy. On March 4th the United States of America Snowboard and Freeski Association is hosting their half pipe competition at Bear Mountain. This is the training ground for future Olympians, and a great chance to see some of the most talented half pipe skiers around. The event starts at 10am at Bear Mountain. The Bald Eagle Celebration continues on March 10th with volunteer spotters helping provide the annual count followed by an informative presentation on these majestic birds and their long history in the Big Bear region. Those wanting to participate in the count should arrive at the Big Bear Discovery Center at 8am. The bald eagle presentation takes place at 10am. Plan Your Perfect Spring Vacation

We know the nights are still bit chilly, but it’s a great time to start looking forward to the arrival of Spring. If you start early enough, you can plan your perfect spring vacation, and we’d love to help.
Spring in Big Bear is just amazing. The pristine beauty of the surrounding forest is at its peak during springtime, and this makes your stay even more relaxing than usual. Few things are as rewarding as waking up in the luxury of your Five Star Vacation Rental and looking out your windows on the beauty of the forest around you. Squirrels, deer, and lots of other wildlife are easily spotted during your wandering around Big Bear.
Indulge us for a moment and imagine returning to your luxury Five Star Vacation Rental after a full day of hiking, skipping rocks on the lake, and shopping for some great souvenirs in The Village. You walk in the door as the sun is slowly setting in the distance.
