Our Cabin #29  Chalet Summit is ideally suited for large groups up to 16 with 9 bedrooms and 9.5 baths. 8 of the bedrooms are master suites with their own private baths, so you can see how this will be perfect for multiple families to share. It’s only 2 blocks from Snow Summit, so during ski season this can be an economical way for your ski group to share expenses and enjoy some amazing luxury in the process.

If you have an even larger group up to 26, our Cabin #23 is actually three cabins side-by-side with 10 bedrooms and 6.5 baths. This group of cabins offers a great option for larger groups, since you’ll also enjoy 3 kitchens and 3 entirely separate living areas. Family reunions and groups with lots of kids will really enjoy this one. Set the kids up in one of the cabins and just rotate adults in and out to keep an eye on them while the rest of you can enjoy some relaxing time together.

Your large group of up to 28 should also consider another pair of our adjacent cabins we list as Cabin #11 and is actually our adjacent Cabin 15 and Cabin 20. These are both impressive properties, and you’ll be delighted with you stay here. You’ll have a total of 11 bedrooms with 7.5 baths combined. And you’ll also have the added benefit of two entirely separate living areas and kitchens, so it’s easier to split cooking duties or set the kids up in one cabin and let the adults enjoy some quality time together during your stay.

Meet Kevin and Maria Cobb, Your Five Star Hosts

Kevin and Maria Cobb entered the world of luxury vacation rentals almost by accident. They started out with a love of travel, and a strong background in real estate, lending, and the hospitality industry. As any seasoned traveler can tell you, the quality of your experience with the accommodations where you’re staying can play a significant role in your overall enjoyment of any vacation or getaway. With that in mind, and a handful of investment properties, Maria and Kevin launched a vacation rental service with a unique approach. Since vacations are intended to create the best experience possible, they worked to assemble a collection of properties that would have guests feeling truly pampered by enjoying top-quality luxury homes, estates, condos, and cabins in some of the finest destinations.

Kevin and Maria Cobb Expand the Business

It was a bold plan, and it worked. Five Star guests quickly found that they could access some truly amazing properties and estates for about the same cost as they’d spend on a nice hotel. And with many properties equipped to comfortably accommodate up to a dozen guests, it became a perfect solution for larger groups. It’s been almost two decades since Five Star Vacation Rentals began, and during that time we’ve hosted entire wedding parties, anniversaries, family reunions, work and church retreats, and more big family gatherings than we can count.

After several resort property owners approached us asking if we might include their properties, we found a number of wonderful homes and estates that added to our own great portfolio. Planning a Great Golf Vacation

Big Bear is full of things to keep you and your family busy during your visit. In the winter the skiing is unsurpassed, and the rest of the year you have the beauty of nature and water fun on the lake. Fine dining in The Village. Big Bear Village is just a short drive from most of our properties, and a short walk from many of them. You’ll find your time in The Village to be great fun. Here are some of the great restaurants you’ll find:

BJ’s Restaurant and Sandwich Shop is one of the most popular eateries on the mountain, and we’ve got an old pair jeans that are too small now to prove it. They offer up amazing burgers, ice cold beer, and fixins that will keep your entire group moaning with delight. Check out their Facebook page here.

If you want to sample one of the most amazing Reuben sandwiches ever made on planet Earth, you’ll want to stop by Grizzly’s Bear Belly Deli at 42530 Moonridge Rd. Their barbecue beef and chicken sandwiches are also just amazing. They’ve got some good veggie options too, if that’s what you’re looking for. If you’re in the mood for something a bit fancier, we recommend the Peppercorn Grille at 553 Pine Knot Ave, Big Bear Lake. More Big Bear Fun For Your August Vacation

August has a lot of great events happening in Big Bear, so this is a great time to plan your next family vacation or getaway.  We covered a few in last week’s blog, and we’re going to pile on even more this week. Ongoing events during the month include the The Renaissance Faire starting on August 5th, a packed calendar full of cycling events culminating in the Tour de Big Bear, and the 28th annual Antique Car Club Fun Run on August 11th.

The Miss Liberty paddle wheel tour boat continues to offer dinner cruises on August 4th and 18th. You’ll enjoy a gourmet buffet and enjoy your meal on fine china and linens. There’s a no host bar, and live music provided by the Liberty Ramblers, a traditional New Orleans Jazz band. On August 19th you can combine two of life’s great passions: Spending time with exotic animals and eating some amazing ice cream. Yes, it’s time again for the annual Big Bear Alpine Zoo Ice Cream Safari. This event starts at 11am and goes till 2pm or when the ice cream runs out. Five ice cream stations are set up throughout the zoo, so you can enjoy a yummy cool treat as you learn more about the zoo’s residents. The Big Bear Community Arts Theater Society is presenting “Steel Magnolias” the weekends of 8/25-8/27 and 9/1-9/3. This classic play follows the plot many of us fell in love with as the film with the all star cast including Sally Field, Dolly Parton, Julia Roberts, Shirley MacClaine, and others. It’s a funny and frequently challenging story about the bond between a group of women as they navigate the perilous waters of relationships and life in general. August in Big Bear

Summer is well under way, and we hope you’ve already made your plans to getaway for a much deserved vacation or weekend in a Five Star Vacation Rental in Big Bear. August is one of our favorite months, and there’s plenty of fun scheduled to keep the family happy.  Here’s a sample of the fun you can look forward to during your stay with us:

The Renaissance Faire makes its 16th annual appearance starting on August 5th and continuing every weekend for the entire month. If you’ve never been to this event, you’re in for a real treat. Each weekend carries a different theme ranging from pirates to purple, and fairies to steampunk. The food is amazing, and it’s only place we know of where you can get juicy turkey legs the size of your head. You’ll delight with the sights and smells that surround you as costumed participants stroll amid the many vendors and food booths. There will be magic, sword swallowing, jousting and dancing. August is also a big cycling month in Big Bear. The Big Bear Cycling Association has rides scheduled continuously throughout the month. Rides are available for all experience levels and ages. The 8th annual Tour de Big Bear is scheduled for August 5th as part of the Big Bear Cycling Festival starting July 29th. This event offers several different distances, so riders of varying skill can choose the one that best fits their abilities. Choose from the namesake Tour de Big Bear with its 25 mile distance and 1368′ climb to the most difficult being the HC Gran Fondo covering 125 miles and a 12,000′ climb. There are 50, 70, and 107 mile courses to choose from as well. August 11th welcomes the 28th Annual Antique Car Club Fun Run in the Village. This three-day event is one of the biggest of its kind, and 500 cars are expected to participate. This is always a hit with car buffs. There is no admission charge to view these beautifully restored and preserved cars. There’s a small fee if you want to display your car, and this helps fund local Big Bear charities. You may want to join the crowd lining the streets when they embark on the “Cruise Around the Lake.”
