We know we’re a bit biased about this, but we’ve been pretty consistent about encouraging our friends and family the Valentine’s Day can be much better than a simple bouquet of flowers and box of candy.
There’s certainly nothing wrong with candy and flowers, but they can be a bit lacking in a full expression of exactly how much that special someone actually means to you. February Events in Big Bear

February is a great month to visit Big Bear. The ski season is in full swing, and there’s lots of other great activities going on as well. Here’s a sample of the things you can enjoy while you’re staying in your Five Star Vacation Rental in Big Bear during February.
Super Bowl weekend is packed with some great events. On February 2nd, Bear Mountain ski resort is hosting Bear Bowl IV. Grab some friends and come compete for a chance to win a season pass, $1,000, and VIP service at the Super Sunday Viewing Party. Bear Bowl is a 3-part team competition measuring speed (relay race), agility (field goal kicking), and accuracy (tire toss contest). The team that scores the most overall points wins. Registration is free/open to the first 10, 4-person teams that sign up in the Bear Mountain base area on Feb. 2. A valid ski pass is needed to compete. More details at this link.
Come on down for live Music at Wyatt’s at the Big Bear Convention Center. Wyatt’s Cafe and Saloon is truly the simple place where the good folks of Big Bear gather. Come on over every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday night for line dancing and relaxing with friends.
Big Bear’s annual bald eagle count continues during February. This event is a great chance to get out in the forest and catch a glimpse of these majestic birds. You’ll be volunteering for the Forest Service to count the number of bald eagles wintering in the San Bernardino Mountains. Dress warm, and bring your own binoculars. The Cave has some amazing live bands appearing during February. The fun kicks off on February 2nd with an evening devoted to “Beatles versus Stones.” Also this month you can catch Joshua Radin, Yachtly Crew, Orleans, and more. Enjoy a Desert Getaway This Winter

The Big Bear ski season is in full swing, and we’re running near capacity most weekends. We’ve still got lots of availability during the week, however, and that’s a great option for people who can arrange their schedules around it. It's Ski Season in Big Bear

We love the snow, and we’re glad to see it finally arrive. If you haven’t already booked your ski getaway, now is the time. Dust off those skis and hurry to place your reservation in one of our luxury cabins before they’re all booked up.
Winter in Big Bear is a wonderful time. In addition to skiing, there are lots of other great activities off the slopes. While we’re often inclined to enjoy winter in Big Bear from the comforting warmth of a hot tub or by the crackling fireplace in one of our luxurious vacation rentals, there are some additional fun things to do in Big Bear.
Big Bear Snow Play offers downhill inner tubing with a delightful twist. They have a “magic carpet” that takes you effortlessly from the bottom of the run back to the top. It’s a great way to enjoy a downhill run without working up a sweat to do it all over again. It’s pretty much all play and no work. Enjoy a thrilling ride down one of southern California’s longest downhill inner tube runs, and then relax on the magic carpet ride back up the hill to do it again. Sign us up!
Big Bear Alpine Slide is another favorite. Experience the fun of a luge run down the hill. You’ll navigate one of the twisting banked concrete runs in your sled as you race to the finish. Treat yourself and your family to an Olympic experience with high banked turns and long straightaways to gain speed. The sleds are individually controlled and run an a combination of teflon pads and wheels. Riders have full control over the speed with fully functioning brakes for the faint of heart.

New Year's Resolutions

The glow from Christmas is still around, and many of us are enjoying our last few days with distant relatives. We’re a few days away from New Year, and it’s a time many of us start to think about how we hope to see the new year unfold. We may make resolutions, and many of them are important. Get in shape, spend more time with family, read more, learn a new language, and so on. It’s also a time we reflect on the past year and how far we’ve come.

We’ve been getting a good supply of fresh snow on top of groomed slopes, and we’re looking at some great conditions. December In Big Bear

We sure hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. We certainly did. We stuffed the turkey, and then the turkey stuffed us. We’re still glowing from all the great food and loved ones we got to see. We’re excited about the month ahead, and we’re going to spend a few moments in this week’s blog to take a look at December in Big Bear.
Christmas and New Years are probably our two busiest holidays of the entire year. We’re getting booked fast so you’ll want to book your getaway as quickly as possible. Along with these two holidays, there’s plenty of fun going on in Big Bear during December to make your stay even more fun.
